Overall my experience with Frederickson has been great! My daughter has gone here for her whole school career thus far (from kindergarten to now it being her last year here in 5th grade). All of her teachers have been incredibly friendly, helpful and have done a wonderful job in making my daughter really feel like a special part of this community of kids, teachers and staff. The staff here too are the best. Anytime my daughter has had any sort of issue the school counselor has been there for her and has done a great job with letting her know that if ever she needs any help she can always turn to the counselor there. The new principal seems like she’s going to be a perfect addition here too! Super sweet.

The reason why I am giving a 3 star rating is because while the teachers and staff have been wonderful to work with and we’ve never had any sort of issue on that front … I don’t feel like my daughter has received the best overall education from this school. I don’t know if it’s because there’s been some sort of significant change in the guidelines of what’s to be taught nowadays or what but I for one know that my siblings and I by 5th grade were far more advanced In what we were learning by this time. My daughter is in 5th grade and has only been given homework one year in 2nd grade. I don’t think that’s right as I am a believer in it being incredibly important to take school home with you to continue practicing what you learn in order to better your chances in really retaining all of that info. Also she just now received her first writing report assignment in 5th grade and doesn’t know how to write a report at all! I was a master at this specific subject by 5th grade. And my daughter is a very bright student who’s been recommended for the highly gifted program not once by twice so I don’t think that it’s her specifically that’s struggling with the work… it’s more like what she is learning is behind. This disappoints me beyond measure as I am really concerned that middle school and high school is going to be a real big eye opener for us all. I really hope that it won’t be a huge struggle to transition from having it so easy in elementary school to being bombarded with homework in every subject and higher expectations being expected of her during her latter years in school. But I also hope that middle school and high school will not be just as lax either and I hope school requirements haven’t just sank into the ground for our kids and future.

The teachers are wonderful!! They go above and beyond to help the kids learn.

I'm not sure on this. We haven't really dealt with it.

The special needs team has been wonderful. Absolutely great.

The school runs well. I haven't had much contact with the administration but it must be pretty good or the school wouldn't work as well as it does.

The school has started doing monthly awards for things like responsibility and fairness and such. I feel like they've stepped up on it this year.

Awesome teachers! I have never had a complaint from any of my girls about any teacher or staff member which is pretty remarkable.

The homework slowly ramps up over the years in preparation for middle school. Very good idea.

This school has been so great. The teachers care so much about the students. Ms. R the fifth grade teacher has done a great job preparing her students for middle school. The Sped teachers, office staff, specialists, fourth grade teachers and more have made our journey through the beginnings of special education foray middle daughter so much easier and have been just wonderful with her. When a teacher was tragically lost last year the whole thing was handled with so much care and compassion. We have decided that we won't move until the girls age out of this school. We appreciate them so much.

I believe they try, but I'm not sure how effective it is if those values are not promoted at home.

My child is only in first grade so far, so I'm not sure if this approach is school wide or has just been the preference of the last 2 teachers she has had, but each Friday she is given a homework packet that is due the following Friday. It is an easily manageable amount, and I appreciate the flexibility that having a week to complete it affords our family. I feel it is effective at reviewing and solidifying what she is learning in the classroom (as well as giving us an idea of what she is currently working on), and the week's due date allows a gentle curve for her to learn how to manage her time and complete something by a deadline.

My oldest has attended this school for 2 years. We have been very happy with every member of staff we have come in contact with. The communication has been excellent, and my child is doing well academically. She truly enjoys attending and I feel it is a safe and positive environment. I have no hesitation about enrolling my next child when they reach kindergarten age.

My two kids have attended this school for the past two years and we have been very impressed with the professionalism of their teachers!! My spouse and I have both volunteered in the classroom and have been very happy with the teachers, staff and school facilities. They have a strong PTA that puts on various family activities throughout the year as an added bonus.

This is a great school! I am active in PTA and as a volunteer at the school. The staff is top-notch and my child is thriving. I am so happy to have my child at Frederickson.

The school is brand new (2 yrs), but being brand new I expected a lot more. The school building itself, offices, library, and classrooms are beautiful, clean, bright, and state of the art. However most of the office staff, and teachers I had contact with left a lot to be desired. My child was brand new to the school last year and had a very disappointing experience. I know we couldn't have been the only new family to the school but found the communication and organization relating to not only the day to day classroom activities but also the scheduled "events" to be terribly lacking. My child had a substitute teacher what seemed like once a week without any explanation as to why, and when the regular teacher was in class it was obvious it was only for the paycheck. Coming from another scool and district the academics seemed to be somewhat lacking as well. Hoping that the next school year will be better with a new teacher, if not I will be moving my child.

This is a new school (only two years old), but we have been impressed with the level of organization and professionalism among the staff. Our kindergartner loves her teacher, and we feel she is getting a good education there.
