There is no working with this school. Admin are both single females that do not listen to reason. Many of the teachers are uncertified, hired to be teachers. They are not pro students, not pro families, not pro parents. I don't know why they are even a school. Class sizes are 30+

I went to this school and I have been in this school basically my whole life since kinder and I would not be as smart as I am today without this school it's amazing I grew with my friends and now this school is amazing all the teachers I have had gave me a great experince

This school is quick to get rid of students and they do not care about their well being. My child has an IEP and instead of accommodating at this school, they push him to another school. Teachers have not allowed him to use the restroom or willing to look at his IEP. The district is not in support of the students. Please look into other schools, and even other districts or a charter school.

There are women "principals" of this school that are supposed to make certain that students are treated with dignity and respect. However, there was never a moment I felt these women cared about my students. There is a massive bullying, violence, and disrespect problem happening here which is what occurs when there is never a consequence for such behavior. They tolerate all types of bullying and violence at this school. Do not waste your time- TAKE YOUR KIDS TO A SAFE PLACE!

The micromanagement at this school comes from the top and goes all the way down. Teachers are not able to breathe unless the admin approves. Zero autonomy, nothing can be done unless the district and its cronies approve. Glendale is a horrible district that has no idea how to run schools. Most of the people at the top were promoted because they are friends with the superintendents. Teachers are underqualified, overworked, underpaid, and nearly abused. Students do not have any related arts classes and are expected to operate as robots, just as the teachers are.

The principals there, two women, are not adequately trained to be principals of a school. They lack the fundamental characteristics of what it takes to run a successful school. Both have shown multiple times with aggressively rude, abrasive communication with the parents and community that they are not solution orientated. They lack empathy toward students and I have heard the vice principal say " well,good luck taking your kid elsewhere- feel free!" I was in utter shock at the level of unprofessionalism and disrespectful communication. They also have no outreach programs, high attrition rates. Your student may get new teachers in the middle of the year and no school spirit. There is no love at this school- for what they do( or lack thereof), no love for their students or their well being. The district office needs to come in and change the leadership of this school. Parents, I know, are all aware of there two disgraceful women. I pray your students do not have bullying issues because they will not care about you or your student.

I've waited a while to find teachers like these at Discovery! A big thumbs up to 2nd grades Miss Willemott! Discovery could use ALOT more school spirit and activities/programs. It was at least a month and a half into the school year before a PTO was assembled. The front office could use some work. But it is the best school by far, in Glendale, because of the teachers.

I feel like since I just left discover after being a student there for 9 years I should be able to comment on it. So let me start with the fact that I was bullied straight and all of my 7th grade year, serious bullying and NO ONE noticed, so that annoyed me because it was pretty obvious. Second, I liked most of my core teachers and they were good at what they did except one of them but she is not a teacher any more anyways so no biggy, but I had huge issues with the specials teachers. Most of them hated the 8th grade and some of them were just not the best teachers. Also the principal is not helpful, he is like an annoying shadow for some of the teachers and he doesn't trust the 8th grade at all! One time he blamed our 8th grade class for stealing his pen and made everyone empty and check their backpacks, guess where they found the stupid pen. IN A FIRST GRADE CLASS, he dropped it but wouldn't believe the 8th graders. So no I don't like the school that much but they got me where I needed to be and my core teachers were great. They really helped me out whenever I needed them and they pushed me when I needed it.

I totally agree we need a new leader. The kids are very rude the way they talk to one another is horrible. If I could I would rate it a 1/3 of a star. My daughter reading was falling a grade behind they really didn't give her one on one or as I feel any attention that's why I had to hold her back one year.The District 40 really has to get together and do some thing about this,but are money is sure is going to the Westgate.
