Aberdeen Elementary is a school I definitely wouldnt recommend ANY parent. This school has put my child through risk, depression, anxiety, and more. She would come home to me crying about the kids there picking at her and beating on her. I reached out to her teachers MULTIPLE TIMES and they said that they would handle the situation. It stayed the same the whole year. My daughter was so happy and carefree before she attended this school. I did not have the choice to switch her school because of our financial situation, and I needed her to get a good education. She is in the 3rd grade mind you, and all this was happening to her. My daughter says the school food they had provided was expired and inedible most of the time and she couldnt even eat. Shed come home STARVING each day and it has worried me a lot. My daughter has told me that her teacher had physically hurt students, yell at the class, and even use inappropriate language around them. He would even pick on the kids too. I am not writing this review as a hate speech at all whatsoever but to share MY experience. I hope this school improves next year and handles situations like this better in the future.

This is the WORST school you can send your child to. My child came home CRYING each and every day. He told me the kids at school are always beating on him and bullying him and the teachers did NOTHING and told him to suck it up. I am EXTREMELY upset with this school system. This shouldnt be an experience my child has to go through at SUCH a young age. My child says the school lunch is horrible and always expired or nasty. He comes home STARVING each day and its worried me a LOT. This review is not to hate or harass but to warn. I hope this gets sorted out next year for the future kids at this school. xoxo, a worried mom.

I don't know why our school is a 2/10 on Great schools but it is a 10/10 in my opinion! My daughter has attended this school since first grade and I couldn't be happier with everything to do with it. They recently got a new building and it's beautiful and laid out with brand new everything. Probably the nicest looking school I've ever been to actually. All of the teachers are kind and work very hard. They always communicate well and do everything they can to make students happy and comfortable. My daughter has some trouble in reading and speech and the school has worked tirelessly to help her catch up to her grade level. As if that weren't enough, the school is one big community and always putting on events and involving parents. I can't imagine a better school than Aberdeen Elementary school!

This 2/10 rating is in NO WAY indicative of the learning that happens both in and out of the classroom in this school. We moved to Moore County in November 2020 and I was nervous about sending my children here because of these "ratings." At least 80% of the parents in my neighborhood suggested a nearby charter school instead. After calling and speaking with the principal about my oldest child's unique needs (autistic), I felt very confident about giving AES a go. Both of my children THRIVED in this environment! My Kindergarten student was excited about school daily and was reading well above grade level before the end of the year. My autistic 3rd grader made tremendous progress during the 2020-21 school year. It is unfortunate that so many people look to these ratings to determine what is deemed a "GREAT SCHOOL." Aberdeen Elementary is a GREAT SCHOOL and I would encourage others to give this school a chance. Our experience was a 10/10! The brand new building wasn't so bad either!
This is my 3rd time trying to leave a review but it appears my review never gets posted for some reason. Hopefully, this one makes the cut.

Wonderful school environment led by a principal who creates such a beautiful school culture in which ALL students can learn. This learning happens from the text/core subjects and from the hearts of these teachers. This school is the MOST DIVERSE elementary school in the county by far, which is one of the reasons I chose it. I want my children to see and interact with a variety of people. I have a child in regular ed classes and one in one of their special needs (autism) classrooms. We were blown away by the level of growth in both of our children this school year (2020-21) and DURING COVID!!! This was a new school system and school for both of our children and Im thankful we ignored the test scores and made the decision to send them here. Aberdeen Elementary is a GREAT SCHOOL!

The test scores do not reflect the overall experience kids can expect at this school. The principal shows sincere interest in the children in this school. He greets kids with a smile and gives daily words of encouragement and praise to the kids. He reminds them daily that he values them and wants the best for them. It is rare in this county to find a principal who has such frequent and pleasant interactions with the kids multiple times a day. I care about scores but I care most that my child attends a school where the principal creates a welcoming environment for my child and helps my child enjoy the process of learning. Its refreshing to see such an effective leader at this school.

I realize that the test scores may not reflect it but the teachers and staff at this school are very dedicated and compassionate towards the children. They are dealing with students from all walks of life. My hat goes off to every last one of you guys at Aberdeen Elementary School.

2013 End Of Grade student test scores are as follows: Reading only 28.3% passed, Math only 26.1% passed. 30% of the teachers have college degrees in this school. NC teachers are ranked 49th in pay in the USA. Only 40% of elementary students passed Reading and Math in North Carolina. What are the school taxes and lottery money must be used for in NC?

Majority of the kids are failing at math and reading in this school. School seems unsafe. There are much better schools in the county and you should check those out before moving here.
