We live in Lakeland and itâ€™s about a 20 minute commute for my husband. My kids go to Lakeland Elementary and we love it. The majority of Navy families either live in Lakeland or Arlington.

Can't really go wrong with Lakeland or Arlington. Very family friendly, lots of nice neighborhoods with large homes. Great schools and a very short commute to the Millington base. Also a hop, skip away from all the major retail stores and mall.

Recommendations: This is our second tour at Millington. I didn't think I'd like TN, but the Memphis area offers a lot! Redbirds baseball games, concerts at FedEx Forum, along with Grizzlies basketball game, BBQ, shows at the Orpheum Theater, Mud Island, Rooftop Parties at The Peabody and more! Plus, great weekend road trip opportunities - 6 hours to St. Louis and Atlanta, 3 hours to Nashville. It's a wonderful shore duty with the chance to optimize quality family time :)
