"South Creek / Mallard Creek - Jacksonville, NC"

South Creek and Mallard Creek are adjoining neighborhoods. Most houses are clean and well-kept. However, neither neighborhood has an active HOA, so there are some bad apples in the area. The people living in the neighborhoods are lovely. My immediate neighbors have been very helpful and giving in the four years that we have lived here. Most people wave hello or stop to chat when you see them outside. The houses themselves range from 1000-1300 square feet with one or two car garages. They are 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom homes and were built in the late 90s or early 2000s. We have buried electrical lines and city water, but are on septic tanks.

The biggest con would be the speed limit, which is 35 on the neighborhood roads. It doesn't help that the streets are pretty narrow too. This is the only residential area I have ever lived in with a speed limit above 25. There are always kids out playing and people walking their dogs, so I wish it was lower. I do feel safe walking my dogs and running with a stroller through the neighborhoods. However, I limit those outings to certain times of day (I do not go when most people are going to and from work).

The biggest pro to the area is the proximity to MCAS New River. We are less than 5 minutes away from the main gate! It is 15 minutes to Stone Bay and 20 minutes to the Camp Lejeune main gate.
