Have you heard the buzz about Burke? That would be Burke, Virginia! Burke is a popular place to live if you are stationed in the Washington, D.C. area. The Pentagon, Navy Yard, Capitol Hill, The White House, Fort Belvoir, Fort Meyers, and Crystal City are all easy commutes from Burke. If you are stationed in the Hampton Roads area , you are near one of the most fun places ever to camp and it is right in the backyard of your duty station. Where is this treasure? First Landing State Park in Virginia Beach, Virginia! We absolutely love camping at First Landing State Park. You have the Chesapeake Bay and beach to walk on and play at and you have the huge gnarled trees to climb in and give you privacy. Camping in Virginia Beach is cheap! It's the best of both worlds. A fun beach day at Naval Station Mayport beach When you are stationed at Naval Station Mayport , naturally, one of the main things to do is to go to the beach. With miles and miles of various types of beach experiences, you have a lot of options. Live at the beach while stationed at NAS Mayport, Florida! #1 Naval Station Mayport Base Housing The first thing I would suggest to anyone PCSing to Naval Station Mayport is to check out the new base housing ! It is amazing ! I am 100% serious when I say that Mayport's base housing starts right on the Atlantic Ocean . Now of course only a select few Admirals, Captains, and job specific houses are located ocean front but the rest of the on base housing is all within walking distance to the Atlantic Ocean.
