Clearfield: Off Base Neighborhood/Subdivision

Review

It is close enough to the Greenbrier area (mall, major shopping and restaurants for Chesapeake area),interstate, and Virginia Beach border that you aren't a far drive from the shops and movies, with a quick and easy access to downtown Norfolk for sporting events and the downtown feel/night life, but you are removed enough that traffic tends to be slower, and the kids play outside in the roads and yards regularly. You actually know your neighbors. Great public and private schools in Chesapeake, and the City takes a lot of pride in their green spaces and community events (festivals/fairs etc).

  • Recommendations: You get a lot of space for your money compared to Virginia Beach or Norfolk. You are able to get to the military bases with no bridges/tunnels (which are now tolled) with the exception of Portsmouth. The City itself is very big and open with lots of parks and areas for families to spend time outside together. Its a 5 minute drive to farmland with berry picking patches that are open in season, and its a relatively quick drive to NC OBX. The crime in Chesapeake is relatively low compared to the other cities around, and their public schools are top notch.
