Greenbrier: Off Base Neighborhood/Subdivision

Review

"HOA nonresponsive"

It is more like mile 2-3 miles to Gate 3, but only have to go through one traffic light.

Yes, there is an HOA, but they do not respond to email complaints and have no phone number listed. Bought a nice house here for almost $ 300K but noticed terrible rancid smell from common area with trees behind house after moving in. There was a large blue bin there. Went into common area and discovered it was full of rancid water--chicken waste! We had to empty it--yuck! House behind us has chickens--coop, mature chickens, and chicks! This is in violation of the HOA covenants. Not only that, but they let the chickens go into the common area where this filth creates a public nuisance and health hazard.

Since the HOA is unresponsive, I think we will have to go to the Agriculture Department, where my guess is the poultry operation is not registered as required by law--how could it be since the HOA covenants do not allow poultry, pigs, etc?

Pros Cons
  1. None
  1. Poor HOA

"Very nice area to live with family."

It is a place where it effectively provokes life, in this area there is much that is nature and serves as an interactive and recreational place. Indeed if you have in your family, children and wife, I would recommend living in this place, all their services are really beneficial for anyone. The houses are renovated year after year and this area has a lot of security with respect to the people who live there.

Pros Cons
  1. Recreational
  2. Consolidated
  3. Share with family
  1. There is excessive security
  2. In some occasions the internet service fails.

"Great price for proximity to Pax River Base"

Greenbrier of Lexington Park is a mile outside Gate 3. I felt you got great homes for less money than living in California, MD, Leonardtown or across the bridge in Lusby. It was a perfect fit for our family and you couldn't beat the proximity to base. TBS is very stressful so it was important to my family to be close to base.

Pros Cons
  1. 1 mile to base
  2. affordable
  3. nice neighborhood with HOA
  1. Spots of not so great nearby
