"Golf Meets Military"

Pinehurst is a mix of a sweet downtown, with great shops and restaurants, and golf. Home of the famous Pinehurst No 2, it is a big draw for golfers, if you can get on the course, as it is very pricey. As far as housing is concerned, there are the old original cottages and homes in the downtown area which are very expensive price per square foot, and then there is new construction and a more suburban feel in the outlying area of Pinehurst. Pinehurst Elementary and West Pine Middle are great primary and middle schools, but the high school is Pinecrest which doesn't have such a great reputation. The kids call it "Crimecrest."
Many Pinehurst families go the route of private school as well.
